How to Apply for Loughborough University Commonwealth PhD Scholarship?
The application involves both the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and the relevant nominating body.
Step 1: Check your eligibility
Review the CSC eligibility requirements and confirm that your country appears on the eligible-country list.
Step 2: Check your national nominating body
Commonwealth PhD Scholarship applicants must apply through a participating nominator. National nominating agencies are the main application route, although selected organisations may also nominate candidates.
Each nominator can have its own eligibility rules and closing date.
Step 3: Select a suitable PhD programme
Find a suitable postgraduate research programme at Loughborough University and make sure your academic background and proposed research fit the programme.
Step 4: Develop your research proposal
Prepare a clear research proposal that explains the research problem, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes and potential development impact.
A strong proposal should show why the research matters to your home country and how the project could contribute to wider development priorities.
Step 5: Apply for admission to Loughborough University
Loughborough states that applicants interested in the Commonwealth Scholarship will also need to secure an offer of study from Loughborough University.
Because university admission and scholarship processes can take time, applicants should begin the PhD application as early as possible.
Step 6: Submit the CSC application
Applications to the CSC must be submitted through the CSC Central online application system. The CSC does not accept applications or supporting documents submitted outside the official system.
Step 7: Complete the nominator process
Submit any additional application required by your national nominating agency before its separate deadline.
The nominator will select candidates to put forward to the CSC. A nomination does not automatically guarantee that the CSC will award the scholarship.
